On December 7, 2024, heaven gained another angel, William Henry Donaldson, as he slept that night. Known as Bill, Don or Papa Bill, he is a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Born in Savannah, Georgia on May 23, 1949, he was a man whose life was defined by service and a love for his family and friends.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. His military career took him to
various parts of the world, including tours in Korea and Germany before settling in Las Vegas,
Nevada at Nellis Air Force Base where he served as a F15 jet mechanic and as a quality inspector. His time in the Air Force was marked by his commitment, integrity, and his ability to lead with both strength and kindness.

Following his military service, he spent his next 20 years as a casino dealer, specializing in craps, where his keen eye for detail and quick wit made him a favorite among colleagues and patrons alike. He was known for his easy-going nature and his ability to make others feel welcome and comfortable at his table.

A lover of woodworking, he found joy in creating beautiful and functional pieces with his hands.
His craftsmanship reflected his dedication to perfection and his desire to create a legacy. He was also a fan of TV, movies, games, darts and playing cards. His sense of humor and enthusiasm for entertainment were infectious, making any game or movie night fun.

He is survived by his three children, Kristen Donaldson (Kenneth Mescall), Bryan (Stef) Donaldson and Regina (Ryan) Lostetter, his grandchildren, Connor, Clare and Hunter Mescall, Gracee and Wren Donaldson, Lilly and Panda Bell, and Sarah Fihn, and other family members including Mary Speidel, Tony Bell, and his nieces and nephews. He is joining his parents, Edith Patricia and Louis A. McDempsey and John I. Donaldson, his sister, Margaret Rice, and his
brothers, Frederick and Murray Donaldson, in eternal rest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral mass will be celebrated to honor William Donaldson's life and service at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 6959 N. Hiawatha, Chicago, IL 60646. Military honors will be rendered at the church after the mass.
