Thomas W. Lydon, Cherished son of the late John and Margaret (Durkin) Lydon of County Mayo, Ireland; beloved brother of the late Mary (Ray) Lavoy, John Patrick Lydon, Eileen (Ted) Schmitt, Cecelia (Dave) O'Connell, Harriett (Ray) Carmody and Bonaelyn Lydon; dear companion of the late Mary T. "Terry" McGarvey; beloved uncle to Father Ted Schmitt, Mary Margaret O'Connell, Barbara O'Connell, Raymond (Kathy) Carmody, Margaret (Andy) Kohn, Cathy (Mike) O'Connell-Cahill and the late David (Kelly) O'Connell; great uncle to Sarah (Hap) Bush, Patrick (Brenda) O'Connell, Haydn (Joy) Bush, Daniel Kohn, James P. Cahill, Andrew Kohn, Lily Carmody, Mary Kate Cahill, Jack Lydon Carmody and the late Abigail O'Connell. Proud veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. Wounded in action in Italy. Great benefactor to many charities, especially Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, and Our Lady of Hope Parish. Tom was a long-time resident of Park Ridge, IL and a great friend and neighbor to many. He was an avid golfer and world traveler. A retired employee of the Northwestern Railroad. Donation to the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607, 312-738-7580, would be appreciated. Funeral prayers Wednesday, 9:15 a.m., procession to Our Lady of Hope Church for 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
