IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred H.
Montgomery
August 21, 1928 – February 18, 2026
Mildred H. Montgomery, age 97, died at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley, IL, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. She was born in, raised, and lived in Chicago all her life until moving to a residential facility in Algonquin, IL in 2017. She lived a good, healthy life, outliving all her friends and neighbors, but suffered from dementia in later years which contributed to her death. She was the daughter of Mata and William Mueller. She graduated from Carl Schurz High School at age 16, met and married James V. Montgomery in 1949, and they were together until his death in 2004. She was proud of the two children she had with James, their several trips to foreign countries, her career as a credit accountant with Sargent Welch Company at a time many women did not work outside the home, and the friendships she had with life-long friends, work acquaintances and neighbors alike. She is survived by a daughter, Judie Fezekas (Vic) of Huntley, IL; a son John (Donna) Montgomery of Madison, WI; four grandchildren, Rob (Sonja West) Fezekas of Athens, GA; Karen Floriano (Don Schmitter) of Tonawanda, NY; Kristin Montgomery of Fitchburg, WI; and Matt (Emily) Montgomery of Eagan, MN; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Willam Mueller, of Cary, IL. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chicago Branch of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Inc. are appreciated.
