Michael F. Derendal

Michael F. Derendal, 58, loving son of the late Robert and the late Judy; beloved brother of Jeffrey Derendal and Cheri (Tom) Garza; dedicated uncle of Amanda (Damian) Burkat; cherished great-uncle of Thomas and Madison; nephew and cousin to many; and honorary pet uncle of Gizmo and Cashew.

Mike was a kind, quiet, and private person who treasured the people and animals closest to him. As a former employee of The Chicago Cubs, he had an experience of a lifetime, creating wonderful memories and friendships that he carried with him. Although Mike kept to himself and did not seek the spotlight, those who knew him appreciated his gentle nature, loyalty, and the special place he held in their lives. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kolbus – John V. May Funeral Home, 6857 W. Higgins Ave., Chicago, IL 60656.

Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made in Mike’s memory to The American Stroke Foundation or The American Diabetes Association.
