IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louise T.
Batrich
November 20, 1923 – November 3, 2021
Louise Theodore Batrich, 97, of Chicago, IL, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Wife of the late Sam Batrich; cherished mother of David (Olga), dearest grandmother to Christopher (Alli) and Mary Batrich. Fond sister, aunt and friend to many.
Born November 20, 1923 in Worcester, MA, daughter of +Christopher Theodore and +Persephone (Carago) Theodore of Boboshtica, Albania.
Louise graduated from Classical High School in 1942 and received a full scholarship for Clark University and the Worcester Art Museum School, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark University in 1947. Louise taught art at Liberty High School in New York as well as Commerce High School and Chandler Junior High School in Worcester for 10 years.
Louise left Worcester in 1960 and was married to Sam in 1961. She gave birth to David in 1962 and was offered a position in 1970 at Lake View High School where she worked for 42 years before her retirement in 2012. She also spent 14 years working for the Chicago Cubs as the Customer Relations representative.
Louise loved to knit and in 1975, began teaching grade school students at the local library. She would attend church services when she could, but most of the time watched the televised service that Fr. Scott Donahue celebrated. Louise did a little more research on Fr. Scott and the Mercy Home for Boys and Girls and 10 years ago, started knitting hats and scarves for the children so they could have something homemade for Christmas. Her last box of knitted goods will be delivered soon.
During the late 70's and early 80's, Louise donated her Time and Talents to many organizations and worked diligently at Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral – everything from preparing meals in the kitchen to creating the Christmas bazaar posters.
Louise's last days were filled with love from all that were around her. She will be missed and is loved by her family and the many who came in contact with her over the years. May her memory be eternal!
