John T. Cotter Jr., 92, of Chicago, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 21, and now joins his beloved wife, Donna Mae (née Feid), in eternal rest.
John was a devoted and loving father to the late Lisa, Dan (Ann Marie), Vincent Sr., Sean, and Katie (Chris) Miller. He was a proud and doting grandfather to John, Timothy, Vinny Jr., Meagan, Elizabeth, and Ian, each of whom brought him immense joy. He was also a fond uncle to Ron, Rick, and Rachelle, and a loyal and cherished friend to many whose lives were enriched by his presence.
John was well known to be an avid animal lover, being a proud dog dad throughout his entire life.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, John carried the values of service, discipline, and integrity with him throughout his life. He went on to serve his city with honor as a Sergeant in the Chicago Police Department, dedicating 32 years to protecting and supporting his community before his well-earned retirement.
John had a deep love for Chicago sports and could often be found cheering on his beloved White Sox or enjoying a Notre Dame football game. Whether watching a game, sharing stories, or simply spending time with family and friends, John found happiness in life’s simple pleasures.
He will be remembered for his strength, his unwavering dedication to his family, and the steady presence he provided to those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
