Obituary

Irving J. Matonik, age 96, Proud U.S. Army, Veteran WWII. Member of Local 134, Union Electrician (IBEW) until he enrolled in the City of Chicago Fire Academy. Retired Chicago Fireman for over 30 plus years on the South Side of Chicago and O'Hare Airport. Beloved husband of the late Mary R. (Behmetiuk); cherished uncle, great-uncle and great-great-uncle of many; dear brother of the late Ed, Chester, John, and Lillian. He lived out his last 12 years in sunny Florida, enjoying the sunshine and the casinos, but nothing beat a ball game on the TV and a cigar on the front porch. Visitation Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4 to 9 P.M. Funeral prayers Saturday, 9 A.M. at Kolbus – John V. May Funeral Home 6857 W. Higgins Ave. Chicago. Procession to St. Monica Church for 9:45 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment Irving Park Cemetery.
