Irma Catherine Simmons, nee Barr, passed away peacefully at age 82, early Saturday morning August 2, in her Niles home surrounded by her family, preceded in death by her beloved parents Peter and Bernadine Barr, loving husband Vernon and dear children Lynn Marie and baby Scott; she is survived by her devoted remaining children Rick (Colleen Andrews), Lee (Rita), Karen (Dennis) Cole, Brian, and David (Susan); adoring "Grammie" to Melanie (Nick) Smyth, Kevin and Erin Simmons, Carolyn Cole, and Michael Simmons; cherished sister of Ken (Kate) Barr, Dick (Ann Ellen) Barr and Don (Jane) Barr; she is further survived by many fond nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irma was a longtime resident of Norwood Park and parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, in Chicago and an active member of The Council of Catholic Women. Her family wishes to express ther profound gratitude to the compassionate angels of Respite Care and dedicated personnel from Rainbow Hospice for ther support and care of this special women who was a beacon of love to her family and friends. She will always be remebered for her kindness to others and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Funeral Wednesday, August 6, 11:00 a.m. from Kolbus-John V. May Funeral Home, 6857 W. Higgins Ave., Chicago to Immaculate Conception Church for Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m. Interment All Saint Cemetery.
