Herbert A. Bass, 80, of Harwood Heights, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025. Herbert was the absolutely adoring husband of Sharon Bass (née Bowers), with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion, laughter, and unwavering faith.

A longtime and deeply committed member of St. Monica Parish, Herb found great joy and purpose in serving his community. He was active in many of the parish's ministries and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. His generosity, warmth, and steadfast faith touched countless lives and set an example of quiet, genuine service.

Herb's life was marked by kindness, humility, and a deep love for both God and others. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his caring brothers Cary (the late Peggy) Bacall and Raymond (Marcia) Bass; cherished uncle to Joyce (David) Peifer, Lee (Dara) Bass, Karyn (Russell) Bass Ehler; great uncle to Sophia, Shoshanna,  Analise, Jocelyn, Samuel, and Noa.

Lying in-State, Friday, November 7, 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., held at St. Monica Parish, 5136 N. Nottingham Ave. Chicago, IL 60656. Interment to follow at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, 8600 N. Milwaukee Ave. Niles, IL 60714.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Monica Parish in Herbert's honor, supporting the ministries he so lovingly served.
