IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Freda Irene
Pierce
June 6, 1926 – January 18, 2018
Freda Irene Pierce, nee Cottrell, born in Cardiff, South Wales, England on June 6, 1926. Freda was the first child of Ann, nee Matthews, and John Cottrell. The first grandchild on both sides, followed by her siblings Terry and Maureen. Much loved by all. During the Second World War, Freda worked in a munitions factory. Her daily duties included lifting and inspecting hundreds of 25 lb shells. She met Sargent Stanley Prusinski, later changing the name to Pierce, at a church dance. It was love at first sight. They were married on August 15, 1945, the day Japan surrendered to end the war. Freda and Stan spent time in Liverpool, with Stan advancing his DePaul education at the university there. He returned home. Freda followed on the Queen Mary in 1946 along with their firstborn Terrence. John followed in 1951 and Maureen in 1956. Freda and Stan enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2000.
