Frances K. Shelton, née Parvin, born on October 1, 1933, in Corinth, Mississippi, passed away on September 18, 2024, leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories. Daughter of Dallas and Clara Parvin, Frances spent her early years working alongside her father on their family's share-crop cotton farm. In the early 1960s, she moved to Chicago, where she raised her family and created a life full of love, laughter, and joy.
Frances was the beloved mother of Kay (the late Jerry Lee) Queary, Joann (Manny) Chen, Marilyn (Mitch) Mullins, Daryl Shelton, Dallas (Sharon) Shelton, Alan Shelton, and Michelle (Bill) Ziegler. A cherished grandmother to Jeremy, Becky (John), Mysti (John), Jenni, Emily, Ethan, Jakob, Talia, and the late Jerry Jr., and a proud great-grandmother to Nicholas, Maddie, Asher, Caleb, and Evan. She was also a devoted sister and aunt to many.
Known for her vibrant spirit, Frances was the life of every party. She never let a little bad weather dampen the fun, often leading her family in spontaneous picnics in the park. She thrived when surrounded by her loved ones and relished being the center of attention, filling every gathering with her warmth and laughter.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Kolbus-May Funeral Home, 6857 W. Higgins Ave., Chicago. Inurnment will be private at Montrose Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
