Bob
Zielinski
February 20, 1926 – August 20, 2016
Bob Zielinski, 90, Chicago, IL, died peacefully at home August 20, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 20, 1926, to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Rabenhorst) Zielinski in Chicago, IL.
Bob married Florence Chropkowski on August 24, 1946 and together they raised 5 children over 70 years.
Bob's career began as he enlisted into the United States Navy and served in World War II from 1944 to 1946 as a Signalman Third Class USNR. He spent most of his 50-year career working with Bell and Howell (General Motors). He often held several jobs to make ends meet. A tool and die maker by trade, he was a true "handy man" and could fix, create, and build just about anything.
As an avid bowler, Bob spent his adult life bowling on leagues with his sons and friends. He and Flo enjoyed many years of square, round, and ballroom dancing with their friends - traveling locally and nationally as accomplished dancers.
Bob is survived by his wife, Florence, three sons, a daughter, and daughter-in-law: Tom (Paula) Zielinski of Green Bay, WI; Randy (JoAnne) Zielinski of Chicago, IL; Rick Zielinski (Gerri) of Orland Park, IL; Terri Enriquez of Bensenville, IL; and Mary Zielinski of St. Louis, MO. He had 18 grandchildren: Cheryl, Jill, Brad (Angie), and Michael Zielinski, Dave Schommer (Katie), Tara Deprey (Chris), Julie Molloy, Joan Brantley (Silas), Jan York (John), Amy (Tim Yoder), Ryan (Jennifer), and Craig Zielinski; Greg Glaeser (Lysa), Erik Zielinski (Meredith), Phillip Glaeser (Kelly), Jason Zielinski, Nick and Brandi Enriquez; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bob; daughter-in-law, Jan; brother, Don; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Al and Rita; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Pat; sister-in-law, Lorraine; and granddaughter, Anna.
