Angeliki Becharas

Angeliki Becharas (nee Kanellos), 91, of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2026.

Born and raised in Dalamanara, Greece, Angeliki immigrated to the UNited States in 1969, carrying with her a deep love for her homeland and its traditions. Although she built a life in America, Greece always remained close to her heart, and she cherished returning each year to visit family, friends, and the places that shaped her early life.

A devoted gardener, she found joy in nurturing beautiful flowers, especially her beloved roses, which flourished under her care. She also expressed her love through baking, delighting family and friends with homemade treats and treasured recipes passed down through generations. Above all, she was a woman of deep faith whose religious devotion guided her throughout her life and served as an inspiration to those around her.

Angeliki is survivded by her loving son Elias, and her loving daughter Toula. She was preceeded in death by her dear husband John.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m., Kolbus-John V. May Funeral Home, 6857 W. Higgins Ave., Chicgao, Funeral Service held at 1:00 p.m., Transfiguration of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Chapel (Located in Elmwood Cemetery), 2905 Thatcher Rd., River Grove, Interment will follow.
