Adeline B. Kozak

Adeline B. Kozak, 103, loving wife of the late John; devoted mother of the late Linda D. Kozak; treasured sister of the late Florence (Wallace), the late Helen “Babe”, the late Gerald and two other siblings who passed in infancy.

Adeline attended Goethe Elementary School, but was only able to participate part time due to her father’s cancer. She was obligated to be her younger brother’s baby sister while her mother continued to work in the shoe repair shop, which was in her family’s living room. Adeline also attended Lucy Flower Technical High School and wanted to become a hat designer. Adeline worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Company from 1942 – 1985, as a telephone operator and then as a supervisor. Due to her efficient, professional, and impressive performance in the early 1940s, her supervisor urged her to transfer to San Francisco from 1943 - 1945 to teach the west coast operators how to work professionally. She turned 21-years-old on the train to San Francisco.

Adeline was a life long parishioner of All Saints Cathedral Parish. She is the author of the book “The History of All Saints Cathedral Parish of the PNCC, 1895 to 1995”. Which was published in September of 1996, 176 pages dedicated to her church.

She was a wonderful companion and friend who will be missed by many.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Kolbus – John V. May Funeral Home, 6857 W. Higgins Ave., Chicago, IL 60656 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at All Saints Cathedral Parish of the PNCC 9201 W. Higgins Road, Chicago, IL 60631 with short visitation to start at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow the mass immediately.
